A Study on a Cell Search Method for Dynamic Parameter Controlled OF/TDMA Systems Downlink

This paper proposes a cell search method to establish communication links between base stations (BS) and terminals in the dynamic parameter controlled orthogonal frequency and time division multiple access (DPC-OF/TDMA) systems. In the proposed cell search algorithm, a delay profile is first detected by taking auto-correlation between the received signal and its copy delayed by the useful symbol duration. Next, pilot symbol timing and its corresponding BS are detected by taking correlation in the time domain between the received signal and the IFFT output of cell-specific spreading codes with their spreading factors of 64. Finally, frame timing is detected, and data in the frame control message slot (FCMS), which is a broadcast channel in the DPCOF/TDMA, is decoded. Computer simulation confirms that almost all terminals can establish the communication links within 200 msec with the proposed method.
